The Salesian Institute of Varese was founded in the footsteps of the teachings of Don Bosco.

In 2019, the Salesian Institute “AT Maroni” embarked on a training program with SEM Italy and in the 2019–20 academic year began implementing the Scholastic Enrichment Model (Renzulli, Reis, Milan, 2021) under the guidance of Dr. Lara Milan. In 2024, it was formally recognized as a SEM Italy School.

Characteristics of the SEM Italy School

To be formally recognized as a SEM Italy School, the school must have undertaken a training and support program with SEM Italy for a period of 3/5 years, demonstrating that it has acquired:

· teacher training on the School Enrichment Model (Renzulli, Reis, Milan, 2021);

·       competenze in ambito della Gifted and Talented Education, Twice Exceptionality e Gifted Underachievement;

· skills and tools of the SEM Model for identifying interests, learning styles and expressive styles;

· skills and tools of the SEM Model for identifying the potential of students who may have high cognitive potential;

· skills and tools of the SEM Model for identifying the creative potential of each student;

· skills for preparing personalized teaching plans for high-potential students;

· skills for the preparation of doubly differentiated teaching plans for doubly exceptional students;

· skills for preparing personalized educational plans for students at risk of underachievement and dropping out of school;

· skills in the SEM Model implementation process supervised by Dr. Lara Milan for a period of three to five years.
